Fees

Dojo Membership is FREE.

A JKR Licence is compulsory, you will not be able to grade without one. It is also a requirement of the JKR Insurance scheme.
It must be annually renewed and currently costs
:

New member (includes record book) £32.00
Renewal (no record book) £28.00

You will alo need to purchase a plain white 'gi' (Karate suit) with a white belt. If you contact Kamae and tell them the name of your Sensei
and the name of this club and ask for a discount, they will oblige.
Their phone number is: 01244 677534. You can also order direct from their website but you
won't be eligible for a discount: http://www.kamae.co.uk/index.php.

You must have a gi and you must have applied for your licence by your 2nd week of training.

Other Equipment

You will need a 'bo' or staff by your third belt. Smaller people can use a wooden broomstick for this. It must be smooth and without splinters. Please ensure that it has been sanded down. It would be a good idea to coat it with an appropriate varnish too.

Ladies will need appropriate chest protection as they advance up the grades. There are various options option to you and you will find an article on the subject on the club's blog.

Everyone should purchase an appropriate groin guard. I suggest going to outlets and trying one on as we all have different bodies. Find one that is comfortable to wear and that won't restrict your movement or kicking ability.

Training Costs
:

£10 subscription per week per student aged 8-adult or £5 per week for 5-7 yr olds. This fee must be paid regardless of absence. This needs to be done via Standing Order and must be paid in every Monday. If you don't have a bank account, please speak directly with the club instructor.

Family discount: If there are three (or more) of you in a family training together, the youngest trains free but must have paid for a licence.

If you have studied Karate in the past, please bring proof of the grade that you achieved and we will start you off with the same coloured belt or equivalent grade. We're also looking for Dan grades wishing to gain teaching experience. Feel free to make contact for an informal chat
